Essay

The dissertation bears historic-philosophic analysis of place, role and meaning of patristic philosophy in the development of Ukrainian spiritual-academic philosophy of XIX century. It was determined that works of philosophers-academists are connected with the philosophy of Church Fathers by unity of ideas while relation to patristic legacy determines historical and social context. Specifically, philosophers-academists examined such issues as way of learning of God, problem of personality, problem of free will, appealing to works of early Christians authorities. The distinctive feature of perception of patristic legacy by philosophers-academists is their deep interest in apologetic period where they could find arguments for advocating Orthodox belief, beating off contemporary for them philosophic studies of atheistic direction. The meaning for definitions "patristic tradition" and "Ukrainian cleric-academic philosophy" were done in the work.
