Tarasenko I. "Wojna Domowa" (written by Polish chronicler S. Tvardovsky) as a historical source and a monument to historical thinking

The thethis is the first to complete an in-depth study of Samuel Tvardovsky's poem-chronical "Wojna domowa". These poems, which are considered classics in Polish literature and historiography from the Baroque era, provide as a historical source for the history of Ukraine and are regarded as a tribute to historical thinking of the XVII century. The literature and the particularities in the methodology used by Tvardovsky in his writing of "Wojna Domowa" is examined and established, as is the issue of academic research into the problems of Polish and Ukrainian historiography. The level of authenticity and originality of a wide variety of sources and academic literature pertaining to the history of Ukraine and analysed by Tvardovsky is determined in the dissertation. The research observed the process of formation and the particularity of the historical and socio-political views of the author. In the dissertation an overall assessment of the role of Tvardovsky as the initiator of Polish historiography intothe National Liberation War of the Ukrainian People is presented. The work also emphasises the influence on further development of Ukrainian and Polish historiography.
