The thesis is devoted to the study of the American language picture and its peculiarities through the prism of national culture, ethnic outlook and mentality against the background of socio-cultural variation of the English language. The work aims at analysis of the English language in terms of cognitive, linguocultural, ethnolinguistic and axiological approaches in modern linguistics. The paper focuses on the research of verbal means used to express key national concepts and values of the American society which reflect specific features of national character, mentality, American lifestyle, social, political and economic processes in the American society of the 20th - beginning of the 21st century. The thesis also highlights pivotal symbolic names (Martin Luther King Jr., Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Bill Gates, Donald Trump) of American culture of the relevant period.
