Essay

The author determines social and religious principles of the thinker and analyses basic philosophic issues and problems he dealt with. It is stressed that spiritual inheritance of Vasyl' Lypkivskyi fits with moral and ethic tradition of Ukrainian philosophical mind. By clarifying Vasyl' Lypkivskyi's views on the problem of the nation the author reveals the thinker's concept of free Ukrainian national development together with highlighting its fundamental principle - "National Council Governing". An important problem of a specific historical unity of the Church and the people in the processes of Ukrainian state building is defined. The author highlights a significant role of lay and clerical intelligentsia in forming Ukrainian nation and states a significant historical role of kobzar-leernyk in preservation and consolidation of Ukrainian national identity and consciousness.
