Kolomiyets' N. Pavel Petrovich Smirnov - historian and pedagogue.

The dissertation is complex research work of the life, scientific and pedagogical activity of Pavel Smirnov (1882-1947) - professor of medieval Russian history in Kyiv University of Sv. Vladimir, in Central Asia University, in Moscow historian archive institute. Based on broad historical analysis of the available literature, the basic directions of P. Smirnov's research activity were conducted as a historiography, a source study and archive research. The theoretical and methodological basis of the historical-and-scientific work of P. Smirnov on medieval Russian history was studied. The dissertation attempted to thoroughly and objectively assess P. Smirnov's contribution to development of a national historiography. His scientific works are analyzed; the main dates of his pedagogical experience are studied. The influence of the private and publics' life to the character of his scientific works are defined.
