Slavutich E. Military costume in the Hetman state: historical-uniform study.

The present thesis is devoted to complex study of history of suit of military powers of the Hetman state (Ukrainian Cossack state: 1648 - 1781-1783). The work is carried out on a large amount of sources, which include writing, graphic and substantial materials from the state Archives, library collections and museums of Ukraine and Russia. The unpublished writing sources became the basis of the research. Major stages of the development of service outfit of all military units of the Hetman state are determined. Its specific in Cossack regiments and hired formations is ascertained. The detailed scientific reconstruction of all varieties of clothes and accoutrements of the Hetman state army is carried out; their origin is set as well. Principal factors and events, that determined directions of the development of service suits of the Hetman state army and also system of their supply are analyzed. The normative-legislative base of reformations in the field of uniform, armament and accoutrements is determined. Features and level of realization of reforms are considered as well. The meaning of all local Ukrainian names and concepts on Ukrainian uniform study of the XVII - XVIII cc. is determined and specified. Their interpretation is given in a form of dictionary.
