Dissertation is devoted to the questions of diagnostics and improvement of the system of controlling efficiency of machine-building enterprises's activity in the conditions of market transformation of economy. With this aim following concepts were investigated: effect, efficiency, results, charges, effectiveness, the system of controlling the efficiency; generalization of conceptual approaches to the estimation of enterprise's efficiency was conducted , and also the state and tendencies of development of machine-building enterprises of the South region of Ukraine were determined.
