Essay

The susptibility of Candida albicans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Rhodotorula bogoriensis yeasts to photosensitizing action of new synthetic porphyrin compounds. The activity level of substances with respect to the first two microorganisms' species is characterized by high similarity as opposed to differences in the case of R. bogoriensis. The uptake intensity of photosensitizers by yeast cells depends on joint interaction conditions and intensifies definitely under the visible light influence. The most of compounds don't effect on yeast cell development in the absence of light exposure. The inconvertible (nonreversible) delay of C. albicans cell division is caused by porphyrin metal complexes, in particular (espesially) by iron and zink 4-N-methylpyridilporphyrins. Whereas a free base (5,10,15-tri(4-N-methylpyridil)-20-n-hexadecylporphyrin) provokes this process inhibition, which recoverypartly with time. After light exposure one death form of C. albicans cells is apoptosis, which runs up to maximumvalue in the case of 5,10,15-tri(4-N-methylpyridil)-20-n-hexadecylporphyrin tosilate zink.
