The dissertation is devoted to studying the typology of the open writers' correspondence in the Ukrainian literary process of the first half of the XX th century through the prizm of genres, style organizations, the interaction of these genres with the discourse of literature of the above-mentioned period. On the basis of genre conception made by M. Bakhtin the main role of the addressees conception in the process of forming its genre prevalence's and the structure of the open letter is grounded. The specific features of the writers' epistolary in comparison with the correspondences of other authors are also shown. In the thesis the scientific approaches of the men of letters to the epistolary genre are systematized and analysed in a complex way. The genre typology of the open correspondence of V. Vynnychenko, M. Khvylyovy, I. Bahryany, B. Antonenko-Davydovych and others writers is grounded in the work. The peculiarities of the literary discussions and disputes in the open correspondence are clarifiedin the research under study. The conception of the theoretical life of the above-mentioned genre and its style modifications is reproduced by means of tracing back the genesis of the open correspondence in Ukraine.
