Essay

The thesis deals with synthesis of derivatives of new phenylmethacrylates based on products of hydroxybenzaldeghydes condensation with heterocyclic compounds. For the first time there have been synthesized and characterized six new acetoxybenzelidenes, six new methacriloxybenzelidenes and six modelling compounds as hydroxybenzelidenes. Their structures have been confirmed by spectral and analytical methods. The polymerization ability of the new monomers was investigated kinetically for radical homopolymerization and copolymerization using dilatometric method in DMF solution. The impossibility of photo Fries rearrangement was confirmed by quantum-chemical calculation and spectral measurements. During the photoisomeryzation the more negative photochromic effect has been found for compound with thiohydantoine moiety. Extensive studies of new oxazolone, thiohydantoine and thiazolidenone derivatives have shown favourable photophysical, photochemical properties and high values of the third order nonlinear optical susceptibility, which have application in nonlinear optical materials. It should be note that styrene moiety in copolymers can be used as photofilter. New polymers are great promise for practical device applications due to their photochemical properties particularly for reversible optical data storage.
