The object is P. Ackroyd's novels "Chatterton", "The Plato Papers", biographies "T.S. Elliot. A Life", "London. The biography", "Shakespeare: The Biography. The aims are to analyze the biographical prose of a contemporary English writer Peter Ackroyd from the viewpoint of narrative techniques. Methods - problem solving and narrative analysis. It is motivated that P. Acroyd's work represents cultural, philosophic and esthetic changes of the modern world and his novels are patterns of the biographical canon deconstruction. It's stated that the peculiarities of Peter Ackroyd's narrative strategy are as follows: multilevel metaphorical play, intertextuality, double coding, parody and mimicry, rhizomatic character of the text, discontinuity. Application spheres are the literary critical studies and training courses.
