Essay

The object of the analysis is the texts of modern English canned jokes, which reflect the gender stereotypes. The objective of the work is to establish the specificity of the language objectification of gender stereotypes in the texts of English canned jokes. The methods: contextual-interpretative analysis; component analysis; function-semantic analysis; the methodology of cognitive-discursive interpretation; the methodology of frame modeling; the elements of the quantitative analysis. The scientific novelty: it was the first time realized the cognitive-discursive analysis of the texts of English canned jokes in it, which display the gender stereotypes. This enabled: to motivate the operating of a canned joke as a genre of humorous discourse; to explain the role of explication and implication in building the semantics of a canned joke text; to reveal the lingo-cognitive mechanism of creating the humorous effect on the basis of the notion of norm; to investigate lingo-stylistic means that produce a humorous effect; to describe the main pragmatic functions of a canned joke; to establishe gender specific behaviour patterns constructed in canned joke texts. Theoretical value of the research is defined by its contribution to theory of the genres, linguistics of the text, linguistical concept of the comic, linguoculturology and gender studies. Practical application: the results can be used in the preparation of theoretical courses on English Stylistics (topic "Lexical stylistic", "Syntax stylistic", "Stylistic semasiology"), in special courses on linguistics of the text, cognitive linguistics, on gender studies.
