Rakunova I. The new composition technologies (using compositions of Alla Zahaykevych as examples)

The dissertation studies the new composition technologies, in particular the electronic music, which are now being actively used by Ukrainian composers. The electronic music’s history and the theory of the three most important technologies of the electronic music (the algorithmic composition, the sound synthesis and sound treatments) are being discussed in the thesis. The dissertation analyses different types of algorithmic composition, in particular, the computer composition, spectral composition, fractal compo-sition as well as different types of sound synthesis and real-time sound treatment. The interactive compo-sition and different types of controllers are also being studied. The dissertation analyses three electronic compositions of Alla Zahaykevych. Her “Povitryana mechanika” is an example of an algorithmic compo-sition. The “Heroneya” uses the technology of sound synthesis and the “Pahody” is build on the technol-ogy of in-real-time sound treatment.
