Essay

The thesis is devoted to the investigation of Ibn Teymiyya’s polemical work “The correct answer to those who replaced the religion of messiah” (XIV century). In the thesis the considerable influence of historical conditions on writing the work is shown and also the circle of questions which arose up in polemic discourse of the epoch under constraint of the socio-political and ideological situation of XIII–XIV centuries is exposed. General world outlook and methodological principles of Christianity criticism were formed by Ibn Teymiyya on the basis of the classic Islamic views of world history, the Abraham tradition and prophecy; however he widely applied also to the methods of rational criticism which considerably extends traditional approach to the features of the Hanbaly School. Historical, theological and philosophical sources utilized by Ibn Teymiyya stand as addition to the mainstream of his argumentation and do not give his work a form of compilation.
