Essay

The objects are "Confessions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau", "Dialogues: Rousseau Judge of Jean-Jacques", "Reveries of a Solitary Walker" by J.-J.Rousseau. The aim is to detect the communicative and narrative models of autobiographism representation in Rousseu's confessional cycle. The methods are receptions of comparative-historical literary criticism, narratology and receptive aesthetics principles, poetological analysis. The place and role of "Confessions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau" is defined in theoretical reflections on autobiography and confessions. On the basis of discourse genres theory the genre of "Confessions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau" is defined as confessional autobiography. In "Confessions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau" literary categories of author - narrator - character interrelations are distinguished as closely connected though not coinciding completely in the autobiography pattern. In reader's system levels aiming at realising author's intentions of self-excuse and self-defence are defined. Thenarrative strategy temporal characteristics as well as fictional time and tense specificity semantic peculiarities and functions are under analysis. Rousseau's philosophical, esthetical, moral and psychological concepts are investigated due to the temporal modes implementation. Application sphere is the training courses.
