Essay

The biography of a famous Ukrainian scholar, antique-expert, orientalist, folklorist, ethnographer, organizer of historical science. K. Shteppa (1896-1958) is presented in the dissertation on the base of archive documents that were in the first time introduced to the scientific use and an analysis of scientific literature. His scientific, pedagogical, civil and cultural-educational activity was researched in details. His creative work was also analysed. His place and role in the social life of Ukraine and in the Ukrainian-foreign historical science were shown in dissertation. The main landmarks of K. Shteppa's life and activity are introduced on the background of social-political events in Ukraine and abroad.
