The dissertation focuses on the analysis of multilevel language means (lexical, word-forming and grammatical) that constitute instrument functional-semantic field. The structure of the instrumental category comprises such semantic components as Tool and Method. The comparative analysis of the field synchronic segments proved the stability of its polycentric structure that contains two micro-fields, i.e. Tool and Method. Their constituents comprise nuclear and peripheral zones, which testifies to field compactness.
