The thesis focuses on the contrastive analysis of the semantic peculiarities of lexical emotive means representing the conceptual sphere of positive emotions in English, Ukrainian and Modern Greek. Specific features of positive emotions conceptualization and characteristics of their lexical representation in the analyzed languages have been studied. A model of complex systemic description of the semantic level of positive emotions representation has been worked out. This model can serve as a sample for further research of emotive lexis in other languages. The part of speech characteristic of positive emotive units has been given, their semantic structure has been described. Basic models of lexicographic interpretation of emotive lexical units have been suggested and peculiarities of their implementation in monolingual dictionaries have been described.
