Nouns denoting the concept "time". The aim is the study of the development in semantics and word forms, denoting "time" in Old-, Middle-, Early and New High German. The methods are: history-comparative, of linguistic reconstruction and the statistically distributed. Lexico-semantic variants of German lexemes with the meaning "time" were singled out for the first time. The peculiarities of the development in semantics of the investigated words with the meaning "time" in various periods of the German language existence were defined. The usage - in courses in history and lexicology of the German language, in the practice of teaching German as a foreign language. The sphere of usage - higher school.
