Essay

The spatial distribution of the vacuum arc plasma fluxes in the curvilinear magnetic filter is determined and the mechanism of plasma loss in a curved magnetic duct is discovered. An analytical model for the plasma motion in a curvilinear magnetic field is developed. Optimal dimensional, geometric and magnetic parameters of the filter, in which the plasma losses are minimized, is ascertained. The obtained results may be used in the technology of vacuum arc plasma coating deposition.
