Essay

The thesis gives the analysis of the creative evolution of the famous English writer D. G. Lawrence due to his being under the influence of the Russian writers-realists of the second half of the 19th century: Dostoevskiy, Chekhov, Tolstoy. The research concerns the peculiarities of perception of Western modernists of the creative heritage of the Russian realism. It is mentioned that D. G. Lawrence's ethical maximalism relates him with the Russian classical realism and the Dostoevskiy's creative position. In our thesis the complicated multigenre heritage by D. G. Lawrence is analyzed; the conception of personality formation in the novels of D. G. Lawrence and Russian literature traditions of the second half of the 19th century are investigated; all types of contextual links (influences), the stages of the writer's literal style formation and its specifics are determined.
