Object: function of commercial banks in conditions of the transitional economy. A purpose is substantiation of of theoretical foundations of financial stability of commercial banks and development of bases of the management mechanism of financial stability as a form of its practical providing in modern conditions.Methods – analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, coefficiential method, integral analysis,methods of conception-logical analysis. Results – substantiates conceptual aspects of the financial stability of commercial banks and development of methodological bases of the management mechanism of financial stability as a form of its practical providing, proposes some directions of optimization the mechanism in modern conditions.Novelty – development of methodological bases of the management mechanism of financial stability of commercial banks as a form of its practical providing; interpretation of the essense of financial stability, organizational stability and generaleconomic stability; presents the strategy of liquidity and profitability management at a bank; classification characteristics of financial stability of commercial bank have been improved.
