Essay

On 86 sexually matured male rabbits (age 5-6 month) the work was investigated. The dissertation is devoted to the examination of the influence of long-term hypopinealism on the dynamics of disorder of diurnal rhythms of hormonal activity of functioning of thyroid gland and sexual glands and the ways of their renovation. To make use of physiological, immunoassay, histological, morphometrical, statistics methods of investigation. It was determined that the maintenance of rabbits in conditions of long (5 months) twenty-four-hour illumination impedes the formation of night melatonin peak, assists mass death of functioning pinealocytes, which denotes premature aging of pineal gland and shall be classified as hypopinealism. Against a background of hypopinealism there are phase changes of the functioning of the thyroid gland and sexual glands – the primary (during the first month) aggravation of thyroid and an androgenic activity with their further (in 2-5 months) progressive inhibition, which indicates the development of hypothyroidism and hypogonadism. The renewal of natural light conditions improves essentially, but doesn’t normalize the uncovered changes. Additional course administration of melatonin in the form of replacement therapy leads to normalization of hormone activity and morphofunctional condition of thyroid gland and sexual glands at hypopinealism.
