Kalinichenko L. Improving the Investment and Innovation Potential of Rail Transport Industrial Enterprises under Integration Processes

Study Subject: Functional processes of industrial enterprises, which are manufacturing products for the rail transport in the integration environment.Purpose: Providing a theoretical justification of the role played by the investment and innovation potential of the industrial enterprises manufacturing products for the rail transport in speeding up the integration of the Ukrainian transport system with the pan-European system and developing the recommendations towards improving the investment and innovation potential of enterprises manufacturing products for the rail transport within industrial and financial groups. Methods: Analysis and synthesis of results, observations, comparison and analysis of empirical data, comparative analysis, expert assessment, systemic approach. Practical Importance of Results Obtained: Application of the results would allow improving the condition of the rail transport network through innovation development as the basis for achieving the development level of the European rail network. Degree of Implementation: A number of suggestions contained in this thesis are being taken into account for determination and justification of the key directions for improving the competitive strategies of the railways. They are also applied in teaching academic disciplines at the Ukrainian State Rail Transport Academy. Scientific Novelty of Results Obtained: The need of creating a Center for Innovation Development of Rail Transport has been justified and its role in the process of research and innovation support of rail transport industrial enterprises defined, such enterprises being a component part of the national economy, in addressing the issues of development and implementation of new technologies, exchange of technologies and research and innovation products, expanding and improving the range of offered products; a list of indicators has been suggested for evaluating the condition of the Ukrainian rail network in accordance with the requirements of the trans-European rail network; a classification of innovations in the rail transport sector has been suggested; the theory of competitive advantages has been enhanced by formulating the concepts of the "competitive advantage of rail transport," "competitive advantage of industrial enterprises manufacturing products for rail transport," and the mechanism for their achievement developed; a concept has been proposed for interaction between the Ukrzaliznytsia Ukrainian Railways industrial enterprises and the industrial enterprises manufacturing products for the rail transport, which concept envisages the innovation cooperation.
