Essay

This thesis is devoted to the interpretation of Goethe’s phenomenon in artistic perception and creative work of Wagner on the basis of their world outlook closeness and meaning constants. Penetration into the essence of internal communication of the composer with a personality and creative work of the poet is done by means of reader’s interests of the composer, his autoreflection, realization in the opera art of ideas related to those of Goethe’s, their interpretation in the overture «Faust» and in the sense aura of five songs by Wesendonk‘s rhyme. The methodological approach to the aesthetic experiments of Wagner and Goethe used in the work is not limited to the famous tragedy by the great citizen of Weimar but it brings one into a much wider aesthetic-world outlook and cultural – context, which makes it possible to see their similarity in many issues of a highly cognitive level, in particular – unity of nature- and cultural philosophical views, the idea of an indivisible expanse of culture.
