Essay

Within this work were analysed reasons of protracted diarrhea in infants. Data of hospital statistics show that main reasons of protracted diarrhea in infants are postinfectious enterocolitis (69%), gastrointestinal symptoms of food allergy (14%), and hereditary diseases (14%). It is defined that protracted diarrhea is accompanied with disbalance of fat acids in blood and it manifest itself by proinflammatory orientation and tendency to decrease the level of saturated fat acids and increase the level of unsaturated fat acids, due to omega-6 polyunsaturated fat acids. It is well-proven, that intestine inflammation with protracted diarrhea in infants is accompanied with characteristic system reaction which mediated by enhanced synthesis of inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-6R, TNF-a) and unbalanced phagocytes production of inflammatory cytokines (IL-10). Using complex omega-3 unsaturated fat acids for treatment in infants provides a proof regress of clinical symptoms of disease, influences positively on fat acids balance, level of proinflammatory, antiinflammatory cytokines in serum, and prevents the relapses of protracted diarrhea in infants.
