The thesis is devoted to the study of formation conditions, type and concentration of the structural defects, and correlation between the lattice damage processes and electrophysical, scintillation and mechanical properties of solid solution crystals ZnSe-ZnTe and CdTe-ZnTe. The complex study of structural, mechanical, optical, electrophysical and scintillation characteristics of ZnSе1-xTex and Cd1-xZnxTe crystals was carried out. The conditions of chemical interaction of melts of ZnSe, CdТе and ZnTe compounds with constructional materials and gas medium during crystal growth by Bridgman method were investigated, and optimal conditions of minimum pollution factor of crystals were established. The effect of the chemical purity of feed stock, growth conditions and structural perfection of Cd1-xZnxTe crystals upon the optical and electrophysical parameters of X- and -radiation detectors was determined. The optimum concentration range of tellurium dopant in ZnSe crystals, and also the regimes of thermal treatment which provide the obtaining of scintillators with the high level of structural perfection, satisfactory mechanical strength and specified scintillation parameters were determined.
