The thesis focuses on the study of adjectives with the meanings "egoistic" - "altruistic" denoting concepts "Egoism" - "Altruism" . The concepts have been investigated in different periods of their formation. Adjectives as a lingual representation of the concepts express optimally the significant aspects of the word's meaning. That's why the adjectives have been analysed in Modern German. Syntagmatic links, paradigmatic relations and epidigmatic characteristics of the given adjectives have been investigated in the modern period.
