Essay

Computer mediated communication that is going on in the regime of real time. The aim is to reveal structural, formal and functional features of English internet relay chat as a bright example of non-formal synchronous computer mediated communication. The methods are those of observation and deduction. It was shown that chat-communication is a new next step in the development of human non-formal phatic communication in a totally new communicative situation. The research makes a certain contribution to functional linguistics. The sphere of usage - in the practice of teaching the English language. The sphere of usage - higher school.
