Essay

The author analyzes the development of archaeological perception by the example of solution of the problem of historical and cultural separation of the Upper Paleolithic of East Europe. As a result of studying of soviet and contemporary historiography, there are picked out four periods in the process of solution of this problem. This periodization represents main tendencies of development of archaeological perception, that can be explained by external and internal factors. There is proposed the general plan of methodological solution of this problem. It can solve the problem of the creation of prehistory on new qualitative level, on basis of the fundamental archaeological theory of V.F. Gening.
