Essay

The dissertation is devoted to a synthesis and a study of the bulk structure and behavior in solutions of the PAAm-b-PEO-b-PAAm triblock copolymers (TBCs) based on chemically complementary polyacrylamide and poly(ethylene oxide) with a different length of the central and size blocks. It was established that the block copolymerization of PAAm with poly(ethylene glycol), initiated with CeIV ions in aqueous medium, is a matrix process, which is realized due to formation of intramolecular polycomplexes (IntraPCs) between PEO and PAAm blocks. The IntraPC formation in TBC macromolecules prevents the PEO crystallization and ensures with existence of the homogeneous fractally-organized amorphous structure at a molecular weight variation in a wide range of both blocks. At the same time, a structural homogeneity of TBC broke at MvPEO ?4·1011 because a partial crystallization of PEO and a microphase separation in amorphous regions. It was revealed a micellization of TBC macromolecules in aqueous solutions due toformation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions. It was shown that the critical micellization concentration (CMC) of TBCs increases and the micellization Gibb's energy decreases, when the length of central and side blocks grow. Basing on TBCs with different molecular weight of PEO and PAAm blocks, high efficient flocculants Unicomflocn for the natural (river's) water clearing were created.
