Object of research: the poem in prose texts by the French poets as well as by a number of Ukrainian writers of the late XIXth - early XXth cent. Pur-pose: to outline the typology of the poem in prose genre within the frame of comparative studies. Practical value: the usage of results for the fur-ther development of courses of studies in History and Theory of Ukrainian and French Literatures, compiling textbooks, manuals, specialized refer-ence editions. Methods: typological, comparative, intertextual, of contextual interpretation, the ele-ments of discourse analysis.
