Essay

The object: the Ukrainian small prose of the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX century. The purpose: to conduct the integral, systemic investigation of the explication of the existentiality of the Ukrainian small prose of the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX centuries; to observe the common features of the small prose texts in Ukrainian and European literatures and to reveal their national originality, to emphasize the ideological dominants. The practical value of the work is determined by the possibility of the received results use in teaching of the normative and special higher educational establishments' courses of the theory of literature, history of Ukrainian literature, special seminars, in writing of textbooks, course papers, diploma papers etc. The methods: phenomenological, hermeneutic, psychoanalytical, biographical, analytical.
