The object of the research: the authorial myths of H.Melville and F.Dostoevsky, their artistic ontology in the mythopoetics of Moby-Dick and Crime and Pun-ishment. The aim: to discover typological similarities and distinctions of the authorial myths in Moby-Dick and Crime and Punishment and determine typological transformations of their artistic ontology on the levels of the genre substance, the chronotopes and the text strategies. Practical significance: applying the results of research to courses and textbooks of the history of World Literature of the XIXth century. Methods: typo-logical methods, the concepts of myth criticism and de-constructive analysis.
