The author takes off from the well defined traditional term, i.e. "theater (drama) of the absurd" applied to the particular phenomenon in the history of drama and tries to find out what the literature with the elements of the absurd is and how it may be refined of theoretical importance in the study of literature. Mykola Kulish's plays are taken as an example of such dramaturgy based on the principle of the absurd.
