Essay

The thesis is devoted to the research of the institute of conviction in criminal law of Ukraine. The historical and legal aspects of development of this institute have been studied. The author has researched legal documents of foreign countries which regulate different aspects of conviction. Besides general problems of convic-tion as a complicated legal phenomenon which has the multifunctional social-legal aim have been considered. The suggestions concerning further improvement of the national criminal legis-lation have been formulated.
