Sovyetna A. Creative Work of Ana Castillo in the Chicana Literature.

The objects are the novels by Ana Castillo. The aims are the complex research of Ana Castillo's creativity, and the defining of her place in the Chicana Literature and, as a whole, in the American literature. The methods are historical-cultural, comparative-typological, genetical, phenomenological, hermeneutics. The thesis is the first attempt in Ukrainian literary criticism to investigate the artistic peculiarities of the creative work of an outstanding contemporary Mexico-American writer Ana Castillo. The precise features of her poetics, composition, and concept system have been analyzed. The study has been dedicated to the author's place in the history of American literature and her contribution to its development. The author's role in the literary process has been defined. She is famous for her specific understanding of chicana feminism and her innovative contribution to this field. The researcher has described the main points of the phenomenon of xicanisma. Ana Castillo is a person who stands at the crossroads. She has inherited both Mexican and European traditions. So the researcher has investigated the way she applied characteristics relating to both traditions. The author of this thesis also tried to show the peculiarities of "magic realism" that Ana Castillo used in her literary works. She is very close to the Latin American manner of writing but with a feminist point of view. Application sphere is the training courses.
