Essay

It is considered the general approach to design for mathematical models of upper cables of skyline systems based on even weight distribution of a cable through its length, elastic deformation, changes of cable temperature, pliancy of support, inhaul cable impact, and a set of other factors. The method of geometrical and power parameters for upper cables of the one- and multi-span and doubled skyline units is also developed. It has been determined an optimum length of asymmetrically hung cable with rigidly fixed ends, loaded by its own weight. Impact of dynamic loading, pliancy of support, elastic deformation and changes of cable temperature upon their basic characteristics is established as well.
