Essay

Under conditions of the south-western part of the Forest-Steppe zone of Ukraine, technology of growing sugar beet was perfected though the use of ele-ments of biological system of agriculture and basic soil cultivation, application of alternative organic fertilizers and optimal mineral ones, and controlling weed infestation in the system of care of stands. The application of alternative kinds of organic fertilizers contributed to in-creasing the contents in soil of nitrogen which was easily hydrolyzed, labile phosphorus and exchange potassium. Biological activity of soil according to the number of microorganisms on the background of moldboard plowing and chiseling soil cultivation exceeded the control by 28,3 and 30,0%. The best variant of the use of alternative organic fertilizers was the application as a green manure crop of 20 t /ga of post-harvest oil radish with plowing under of 4 t/ga of straw and mineral fertilizer rates of N150P110К110, where sugar beet root yield was 33,7 t/ga and sugar yieldwas 5,37 t/ga.
