Marunko O. Set Phrases with Preterit Conjunctive in Modern German.

The thesis focuses on structural, semantic, cognitive and pragmatic features as well as linguacultural peculiarities of the set structures (sentences) with Past Subjunctive in Modern German. The grammatical forms, lexemes and their meanings comprise the peculiarities of syntactic and semantic specificity of such structures. The place of the structural and semantic patterns analysed was defined within the framework of language and speech. The cognitive prerequisites of such sentences, their pragmatic features (purpose, motives of usage; types of illocutionary acts; the role of the "politeness" component in expressing the speaker's intention, as well as the type of an illocutionary act and its effectiveness) was determined. The lingоcultural specificity of the set structure sentences with Past Subjunctive in Modern German was singled out.
