Cherednychenko A. Byzantine Studies in Ukrainian Academy of sciences (1919 - mid-1930 -ties)

The thesis is dedicated to comprehensive study of appearance and development of Byzantine Studies inUkrainianAcademy of sciences. The complex research gives a complete review of The Ukrainian Academy of sciencesinstitutionsactivity in Byzantine Studies in 1919 - mid-1930-ties and its cultural influence in Ukraine. The archived documentsnotinculcated to the scientific circulation before are used in the Thesis. Scientific activity of these institutions is exposed onahistorical background, their place in a historiography process is determined. A special attention is devoted to personalitiesofscientists engaged in Byzantine history research, which figures did not have sufficient illumination in historiographybefore.Their scientific heritage is analyzed in detail, as well as their endowment to Ukrainian historiography. Additionalattention isdevoted to political and ideological factors which influence on Byzantine Studies in Ukraine. The Thesis gives awhole pictureof forming and subsequent development of Ukrainian Byzantine Studies in 1919 - mid-1930-ties.
