Postrigan S. Fixed expressions in the German Institutional Legal Text: Linguistic, Cultural, Communicative, and Pragmatic Aspects.

Fixed expressions in German institutional legal texts are examined with reference to phraseology and classified into the following types: structural-semantic, structural-syntactic, and structural-morphologic. The main functional features of each particular type of fixed expressions are determined. The main characteristics of German institutional legal text on the basis of law texts and texts of court decisions are specified. The linguistic and cultural value of the precedent texts, concepts, and metaphors is defined. The communicative-pragmatic elements of law texts, and texts of court decisions are analyzed; fixed expressions as illocutive speech acts and their links are investigated. It is proved that various speech acts can be presented by the same fixed expressions.
