Essay

The dissertation is a complex research work of the life, scientific-pedagogical and social activity of V. K. Piskorsky (1867-1910), а famous Ukrainian historian, Professor of World History in Nezhyn Institute of History and Philology and Kazan University. The basic scientific ideas and the main directions of Piskorsky's research activity, such as a source study and study of local lore, were conducted as a result of the detailed analysis of the available broad historical source base and historiography. The theoretical and methodological basis of Piskorsky's historical and scientific work on Medieval History of Spain and New History of Western Europe was also closely examined. The research thoroughly illuminates the teaching and public activities of V.K. Piskorsky as well. The dissertation proves a significant role of V.K.Piskorsky's work and his outstanding contribution to the development of historical science.
