Bocharnikova A. Norms and Usage of Persian Language in Translation Lexicography

Problem issues of the peculiarities of Persian language norm and usage reflection in dictionaries from user’s native into foreign language are viewed. Contradictions in linguistics notions’ explanation related to language norm are analyzed. The relations between oral and written variants of the Persian language and linguistic phenomena which are to be placed in foreign to Persian dictionary are defined. The problems of translation into Persian language producing difficulties while being arranged in the dictionary (such as synonyms in translation article, partial equivalents, word valence and endemic Persian lexical units) are analyzed. Inadequate reflection of Persian language norm and usage found in dictionaries was analyzed, classified and corrected. The rules of dictionary article arrangement for foreign to Persian dictionary have been detalized. Basic types of inaccuracies in analyzed dictionaries consist of inadequate transcription, omission of synonymic lexical units, inappropriate reflection of words’ contextual characteristics, connotative and denotative inadequatenesses of translation equivalents, and replacement of adequate equivalent by transliteration or transcription.
