Kamenskaya E. Effectiveness of thiol status disorders correction in patients with superficial herpetic keratitis

Object - superficial form of herpetic keratitis. Purpose - to increase the efficacy of medical treatment of superficial form of herpetic keratitis. Methods: visometry, biomicroscopy, fluorescein test and biochemical (on the spectrophotometer and spectrocolorimeter). It was revealed some disorders in glutathione restore system in corneal tissues on experimental model of superficial herpetic keratitis, as well as possibility of corneal thiol status disorders correction was proved by preparations with sulfur-containing amino acids - "Facovit" (oral) and "Taufon" (local). Corrective influence of above preparations on corneal thiol status disorders and redox processes in patient's tear and blood with superficial herpetic keratitis was detected too. Application of facovit and taufon in complex treatment of superficial herpetic keratitis treatment decreases the patient's quantity with corneal edema on 32,6%, inflammatory infiltration - 27,6%, fluorescein coloration of the cornea - 25%, which accompanied by increase VA in 0,16 in comparison with traditional therapy. Results of study were improved in Filatov Institute of eye Diseases and Central military clinical hospital of Military ministry of Ukraine. The sphere of use: medicine, ophthalmology.
