Essay

This thesis is devoted to study of Jazzing the Classics specifications in the context of Jazz styles in the XX-th century. For the first time in the domestic musicology this problem is considered in the broad historic-theoretical approach with the aim of understanding Jazz as a type of musical mentality. The author's definition of Jazzing the Classics as a form of Jazz (which belongs to the "third" layer) and "Classics" interaction is proposed. Its relaytionship with transcription and polystylistics is undertaken. Classification of its different versions that includes Jazzing-improvisation, Jazzing-processing (arrangement), Jazzing-transcrip- tion, Jazzing-stylization is offered.
