Savchenko A. Clinical and immunological characteristics of the course in the acute epiglottitis in adults

The thesis is devoted to the study of character, degree and characteristics of immune disorders in adult's patients with acute epiglottitis, as well as efficacy of their correction using human intravenous immunoglobulin. It is determined that acute epiglottitis develops with underlying manifestation of acute or chronic ENT- and broncho-pulmonary pathologies which are accompanied by immunological disorders. It is approved that the development of acute epiglottitis is connected with the low affinity of produced antimicrobial antibodies, low opsonizing ability of serum, low phagocytic and biocidal activity of hematophages. It is determined that epiglottis necrosis is connected with the increase of auto-antibodies level in the blood serum with respect to collagen and elastine, small-molecular and medium-molecular CIC, high production of TNF? by the mononuclear cells and exoproduction of superoxide radicals by neutrophils. The expedience and the efficiency of IVIG application are proved during treatment of patients with acute epiglottitis.
