Lesyk I. Interpretation of Irony by a Recipient^ Cognitive and Communicative Perspectives (Analysing English Belles-lettres Discourse)

The mechanism of irony interpretation by a recipient. The aim is to form an effective model of irony interpretation taking into account achievements of cognitive linguistics, to reveal regularities of functioning of irony interpretation mechanism in the discourse. Methods - hypothetic deductive; conceptual, contextual situational, structurally semantic analysis. For the first time linguo-cognitive operations of analogical, substitutive, contrastive and narrative mappings are described. Elaborated assumptions advance the hevelopment of the theory of irony and broaden the existing understanding of its role in the discourse comprehension.
