Blagodarna O. Instantiation of the Concept WORK in the Present-day British and American Fiction Discourse.

The aim of this paper is to define the properties of the concept WORK instantiation in the present-day British and American fiction discourse. The object of the research: the language units, representing the concept WORK in the present-day British and American fiction discourse. The methods applied: traditional functional and semantic paradigm, cognitive and discursive paradigm. Scientific novelty: the original analysis of the differences of the concept functioning in the studied English-speaking communities. Theoretical significance: contribution to cognitive semantics, categorization theory, conceptual metaphor theory. Рractical significance: possibility to use the results in lectures on English language lexicology, general and comparative language studies, special courses on cognitive semantics and discourse-analysis, as well as in lexicography studies.
