Essay

The thesis contains scientific research that increases the efficacy of existing radiological diagnostic methods especially complex ultrasonographic investigations, and develops new diagnostic criterias in the diagnosis of focal liver lesions. The developed sonographic criterias have been introduced in clinical diagnostic practices in the diagnosis of the most frequent congenital and inflammatory focal hepatic lesions (polycystic disease, simple cysts, haematoma, liver abscess, echinochoccus cysts ), Benign tumours ( capillary and cavernous hemangiomas, adenoma, focal nodular hyperplasia),and malignant tumours ( hepatocellular carcinoma and liver metastasis from different organs). Analytic comparisons was made of the capabilities of computer tomography (CT), grey scale ultrasonography, and color Doppler ultrasonography (USD). It was established that, the sensitivity of CT in the diagnosis of HCC compared with grey scale USD is higher by 4,3 %, specificity - 16,7 %, accuracy - 6,8 %. The sensitivity of color USD in the diagnosis of HCC is higher than CT by 4,2 %, specificity - by 8,3 %, accuracy - 5,1 %.
